Update: Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Crows Landing Road in Modesto still alive

Update: The California Highway Patrol initially reported that the victim of a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision on Crows Landing Road on Wednesday had died. However, that person is still alive, the CHP said Friday afternoon.

A Sacramento man died after being struck by a vehicle in Modesto on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred about 10:40 p.m. on Crows Landing Road, south of Blankenburg Avenue, when a 1997 Acura sedan struck the man as he was walking within the northbound lane.

The driver of the Acura sustained minor injuries and was determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

The Sacramento man was taken to a local hospital, where he died, said the CHP. His identification is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
