Pedestrian killed in McHenry Avenue crash identified as Modesto woman

A woman who died Sunday night when struck by a car while crossing McHenry Avenue has been identified by the Coroner’s Office as Regina Stanfill, 48, of Modesto.

The collision occurred about 9:30 p.m. at or near the intersection of McHenry and Bowen avenues. according to police. Stanfill was struck by a Saturn, whose driver — a Modesto boy, 17 — remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

The crash remains under investigation, Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said, and it remained undetermined Tuesday whether Stanfill was in a crosswalk and/or had the green light to cross. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have factored in the crash, Bear said earlier.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact Traffic Investigator Randy Raduechel at Raduechelr@modestopd.com.
