A motorcyclist suffered major injuries after crashing into an ice cream van in Hughson on Wednesday evening, officials said.

At about 6 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling north on Tully Road as the ice cream van driver was traveling west on Narcisco Way, which is south of Hatch Road, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Schwartz.

The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old Hughson man, broadsided the ice cream van in the intersection. He was taken to a hospital with major injuries that include head trauma, Schwartz said.

The 61-year-old ice cream van driver was also treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

The Sheriff Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene. Schwartz said they were not prepared on Thursday to release the names of the people involved. He said no one had been cited.
