Update: Patterson woman second fatal victim in head-on wreck east of Grayson

A second person has died as a result of injuries suffered in a vehicle collision in west Stanislaus County.

The California Highway Patrol reported Monday morning that a 46-year-old Patterson woman taken to Memorial Medical Center after the Friday night wreck later succumbed.

The CHP offered more details into the collision on West Grayson Road just east of Quisenberry Road.

Just after 7 p.m., a 32-year-old Delhi man was driving a 2010 Dodge Caliber east on Grayson. For an unknown reason, his vehicle “turned to the left” into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 1999 Dodge Durango driven by a 26-year-old Modesto man. The Patterson woman was a passenger in that vehicle.

The driver of the Caliber died from his injuries.

The driver of the Durango, who suffered major injuries, was taken to Doctors Medical Center.

It was not immediately known if drugs and-or alcohol played a role in the collision, which remains under investigation.

The names of the deceased were withheld pending notification of family.
