1 person killed, 2 injured in head-on collision in rural Stanislaus County, CHP says

One person died and two were injured Friday night after two vehicles collided head-on in a rural area between Ceres and Grayson, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP officers were called out just after 7 p.m. to West Grayson and Muncy roads, about 2.5 miles from South Carpenter Road, Officer J. Hernandez said.

An initial investigation showed that a Dodge Durango and Dodge Caliber collided when one of the vehicles drifted into the wrong lane. One driver was declared dead at the scene.

A passenger was air lifted and another person was transported by ground to the hospital, both with major injuries, Hernandez said. One was in critical condition.
