Coronavirus update, July 6: Deaths grow by 1 in Stanislaus County. Odd holiday in Modesto

Latest facts on COVID-19 testing in Modesto area

Stanislaus County deaths increased by one to 45 as of Sunday.

The county did not release information on age and gender of the victim. Those aged 65 and older represent 40 of the deaths, four are between 50 and 65 and one person 49 and under has died. Twenty-four women have died.

It’s the first reported death since June 30.

The number of residents testing positive rose to 2,660, according to the county Health Services Agency. Another 32,613 people have tested negative. The 8.47% rate of infection rose from the 4.26% the day before.

The daily hospitalized count of confirmed patients was 147, up from 137 the day before.

Among the five county hospitals, 38% of total beds are available, 31% of intensive care unit beds are available, and 75% of ventilators are available.

The infection rate since the county started documenting data was 7.5%, up from 7.4% on Saturday. The rolling seven-day rate of infection stood at 8.47%. The day before, it was 9.5%.

Of those who tested positive, 55% are female and 45% male. Fourteen percent are 20 or younger, 20% are 21 to 30, 19% are 31 to 40, 17% are 41 to 50, 14% are 51 to 60, 7% are 61 to 70, 4% are 71 to 80, 4% are 81 to 90, and 2% are older than 90.

Modesto has 937 positive cases, 365 are in Turlock, 359 are in Ceres, 132 are in Patterson, 129 are in Riverbank, 48 are in Waterford, 44 are in Oakdale, 42 are in Newman, and 19 are in Hughson. Of the cases in unincorporated areas, 229 are in supervisorial District 5, 198 in District 3, which includes Salida, 94 are in District 2, 43 are in District 1, and 17 are in District 4.

San Joaquin, Merced, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties did not update figures on Sunday.

As of Sunday night, there were 264,861 confirmed cases in California and 6,373 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. There were 2,888,729 U.S. cases and 129,947 deaths.
