Woman shoplifts $1,600 in lingerie — then police look in her car’s trunk, CA cops say
A woman accused of shoplifting $1,600 in lingerie from a Victoria’s Secret store in California had a much bigger secret waiting in her vehicle, police said.
Officers found $19,000 in lingerie, iPads and other products taken from Victoria’s Secret stores in Palo Alto, Fairfield and San Jose, Palo Alto police said in a news release.
They arrested the 20-year-old San Francisco woman on suspicion of commercial burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools, police wrote.
A security officer at the Stanford Shopping Center store notified police at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, after recognizing the woman from previous incidents, the release said.
The security officer watched her hide more than $1,600 in clothing in a bag she had brought with her and left without paying, police said. Officers detained her outside the store.
Police searched her black 2015 Mercedes C300 sedan, which had a stolen license plate, and discovered the other merchandise in the trunk, along with a second stolen license plate, according to the release.
