Modesto’s Betty’s Kabob being replaced by Turlock restaurant with similar menu

A Stanislaus County caterer’s food was so in demand, he opened a restaurant in Turlock in late 2018. Now, the restaurant is expanding to Modesto.

I was sent a tip on behalf of Nami-No Restaurant & Catering, which said the restaurant is moving into the suite that previously housed Betty’s Kabob. The location will be run by Delmon Khoushabeh.

Khoushabeh’s father, Edward, started Nami-No as a catering company in 2012. Six years later, he opened a brick and mortar on Geer Road due to popular demand.

The restaurant won the vote for Stanislaus County’s best caterer in a 2025 Bee poll.

Nami-No is a Middle Eastern eatery that specializes in kabobs. There are 16 styles to choose from, and meat options are beef, lamb or chicken.

Specialty stews, like ghormezabzi, zeresh polo (basmati rice with chicken and berries) and Persian-style desserts are also on the menu.

Plans are for Nami-No to open in late July at 1300 Sylvan Ave., Suite B3.
