Popular Modesto pizza trailer is opening restaurant, plans to expand menu
You know a New York-style pizza is good when someone who moved to Modesto from Long Island says it reminds him of home.
When my colleague Dean J. Condoleo named pepperoni pizza from Sacred Slice as one of his favorite things to eat in the area, he said it is the closest thing he’s found in Modesto to a true New York slice, “which makes it even more surprising that it comes from a food truck, not a brick-and-mortar pizzeria.”
He must have manifested it, because the owners of Sacred Slice announced Monday that they are opening a restaurant.
It will be at 928 15th St., next to the McHenry Mansion visitors center.
“What started as a popup is taking the next big step, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring you along for the journey,” the owners said in an Instagram post. “This new chapter means more space, more pizzas, more possibilities.”
With the restaurant, Sacred Slice will have an expanded menu, including sandwiches, beer and wine.
It will continue operating at Downtown Food Plaza until July, when the trailer will move behind the restaurant. During the transition, orders will be pickup only and will take place on the restaurant’s back patio.
