Discount store opening where Joann Fabrics and Crafts closed in Modesto

Within months of Joann Fabrics and Crafts filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announcing it would close all locations, a new retailer has begun to move into its former Modesto site.

Signage on the building at 200 Standiford Ave. indicates a Dollar Tree is “coming soon.” The discount chain sells kitchen and dining items, arts and craft supplies, home decor, party supplies, toys, food and more.

There are eight Modesto locations of Dollar Tree, not including any under construction: 1620 Standiford Ave., 2425 McHenry Ave., 3225 Yosemite Blvd., 2601 Oakdale Road, 2600 Crows Landing Road, 1330 E. Hatch Road, 448 Paradise Road and 2225 Plaza Parkway.
