Popular Hello Kitty truck making stop in Modesto. When and where you can find it
Once upon a time, Modestans could get their fix of Hello Kitty merchandise without leaving the city.
That changed when Just Friends (also known as the Hello Kitty store) inside the Vintage Faire Mall closed permanently. It is unclear when the store came and went, but the earliest advertisement found in The Modesto Bee archives is from 1984 and the last advertisement found in the archives is from 2011.
Soon, mall shoppers will see Hello Kitty products once again. This time, they will come on wheels.
One of the three Hello Kitty Cafe Trucks will make an appearance at Vintage Faire on Saturday, Sept. 6. It will be in the courtyard near Macy’s and Sephora from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m, according to a Facebook event co-created by mall and truck officials.
What will the Hello Kitty Truck sell?
The first Hello Kitty Truck was launched in 2014. To continue the celebration of its 10th anniversary, merchandise for sale at the truck will include these special-edition items:
- 10th anniversary pin, $18
- 10th anniversary cup keychain, $18
- 10th anniversary glass mug, $25
- 10th anniversary glass tumbler, $35
- 10th anniversary 18-ounce thermal bottle, $39
10th anniversary 32-ounce thermal bottle, $47
- 10th anniversary Hello Kitty plush, $40
- 10th anniversary sweater, $65
Also being celebrated is the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty. A 50th anniversary patch set will be sold for $20 and shirts will be sold for $30.
Other merchandise items include a ceramic mug for $22 and a cold-cup ornament for $15.
All items are subject to availability and while supplies last, according to the truck’s website. The truck accepts only credit/debit cards for payment.

Of course, you can’t have a cafe truck without food menu items.
The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will have these sweet treats for sale:
- Five-piece macaron set, $20
- Three-piece cookie set, $18
- Eight-piece madeleine set, $16
- Giant cookie, $16
