A large crowd turned out Thursday for the monthly art walk in downtown Modesto, many there to hear poets read their works and view the photographs paired with them.

That exhibit, “Collision IV” at Central California Art Association’s Mistlin Gallery, had its opening reception during the Third Thursday Art Walk. The show features 16 pairs of photographers and poets whose mash-ups reflect their combined talents.

The exhibit includes photography with their corresponding poems separately mounted alongside, as well as some with poems printed onto the pictures. It continues through Sept. 11.

A good crowd also could be found at the other five stops along the art walk – not unusual for the events that attract about 200 downtown each month. The next Third Thursday event will be held Sept. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m.
