Words and images merge in the new Central California Art Association invitational show opening next week at the Mistlin Gallery.

The photography exhibit “Collision IV” will be hosted by local photographer David Schroeder. It opens Tuesday, Aug. 18, and will run through Sept. 11 at the downtown Modesto gallery. The show pairs area photographers with local poets who work together to create a unified piece of artwork. Some 45 to 50 pieces are expected from 16 poet/photographer pairings.

This is the fourth installment of the art series, which started in 2008. A reception during the Third Thursday Art Walk on Thursday, Aug. 20, will feature the photographers and readings by local poets.

Gallery admission is free, and it is open 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Call 209-529-3369 or visit www.ccartassn.org.
