At the libraries: Activities for kids and adults abound

A weekly glance at the many programs for children and adults offered by the Stanislaus County Library system’s 13 branches. Some programs are ongoing, others are special events and all are free and open to the public:

KNITTING AND CROCHET CLASSES ▪  Ongoing

STAY AND PLAY ▪  Ongoing

PRESCHOOL STORY TIMES ▪  Ongoing

New and classic picture books, flannelboard and puppet stories, fingerplays, music and dancing, all for preschoolers aged 3-5 and their caregivers. Held regularly at most branches; contact individual branches for dates, times and locales.

WIGGLE WORMS ▪  Ongoing

Storybooks, lap bounces, music, dancing, rhythm activities, fingerplays and more at programs for babies, active toddlers, and adult caregivers. Held regularly at most branches; contact individual branches for dates, times and locales.

COMPUTER BASICS ▪  Aug. 8

BOOK LOVER’S DAY ▪  Aug. 9

Celebrate Book Lover's Day at the Keyes Library. Each individual that checks out a book will receive a Hershey's Kiss. Open hours. Keyes Library, 4420 Maud Ave. 209-664-8006.

SALIDA LIBRARY BOOK CLUB ▪  Aug. 9

COMPUTER BASICS ▪  Aug. 9

UPCYCLED PENCIL CASES ▪  Aug. 9

GENTLE YOGA ▪  Aug. 9

WORD INTERMEDIATE ▪  Aug. 9

DUCT TAPE PENCIL POUCH ▪  Aug. 11

Learn how to make a pencil pouch for your binder using colorfully patterned duct tape and a ziplock bag. All supplies will be provided and all ages are welcome. 3:30 p.m. Empire Library, 18 South Abbie St. 209-524-5505.

TEEN CRAFT: PARACORD BRACELET ▪  Aug. 11

NEWMAN LEGO DAY ▪  Aug. 11

A MATTER OF BALANCE ▪  Aug. 12

A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to help participants manage falls and increase activity levels. MAKE YOUR OWN EMOJI ▪  Aug. 12
