Traveling “Tabernacle Experience” making stop in Manteca
A replica of the traveling sanctuary built by Moses and described in the Old Testament will take visitors through an interactive tour in Manteca later this month.
The Tabernacle Experience is a replica of the tent that housed the Ark of the Covenant more than 3,000 years ago, as told in the Bible’s Book of Exodus. People can go on the self-guided narrated tour at Calvary Community Church in Manteca. The replica will be open to the public March 19-27.
The exhibit has seven stations that will take visitors about an hour to complete, according to a press release. Three versions of the accompanying audio are geared to adults, youths and Spanish speakers.
“This replica of the portable sanctuary of the Old Testament remains true to the precise size and layout of the original Tabernacle constructed by Moses,” according to the release.
The Tabernacle Experience website explains that after leading his people out of Israel, Moses was instructed by God to build the Tabernacle as a place for worship and sacrifice. They carried the Tabernacle as they wandered 40 years in the desert.
The traveling exhibit has made past stops in Modesto, in 2002 and 2009.
Calvary Community Church is at 815 W. Lathrop Road in Manteca. A free preview of the exhibit for pastors and their families is set from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18. Public tours are available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 19-26, and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 27, Easter Sunday.
School groups can go from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. March 21-24.
