What: Us Too Prostate Cancer Support Group

Where: Health Education and Conference Center, McHenry Village, 1700 McHenry Ave.
Info: Ken Willmarth, Modesto Prostate Cancer Support Group leader, will summarize his 14-year “active surveillance” journey as context for another perspective of prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. He will be joined by Mark Farrell, who will report on time spent at a cancer treatment center in Arizona that features exceptional patient care through advanced technologies and integrative cancer treatment. After the program, attendees will break into men’s and women’s sharing circles, and will wrap up with snacks and socializing. Everyone is welcome. Info: The Sons in Retirement, Branch 144, Luncheon will feature speaker Ron Agostini, sports writer for The Modesto Bee. Sons in Retirement is a club for retired men to renew friendships, discuss issues, and plan participation in activities such as golf, bowling, pickleball, dining and traveling. What: Stanislaus Partners In Education’s Summer Education Internship Program
Who: Stanislaus County educators in middle school through Grade 14
When: Applications are being accepted at www.stanislauspartners.com. The deadline to apply is March 25.
Where: Local businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies
Info: The 40-hour internships are for educators of middle school through 14th grade in Stanislaus County. The program is an opportunity for educators to intern with businesses to learn up-to-date job requirements and enhance their ability to relate the work world to students. Stipends are provided and college credit is available.

YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: Ron Malik, George Orser and C.C. “Corky” Bessey took papers out to run for Stanislaus County supervisor of District 5 in the June 8 primary election. Seven candidates were expected to compete for the seat of Supervisor James Franen, was was retiring. The candidates had until March 17 to return their papers with signatures or pay the filing fees in lieu of registered voter signatures in that district to be considered for the ballot. Also, seats in Districts 1 and 2 were up for election.
