When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon

Where: Hatch and Ustick roads, on the south bank of the river

What: Democratic Women’s Club meeting

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Info: Celebrating Black History Month with guest speaker Frank Johnson, president of the NAACP of Stanislaus. Johnson and guests will present an account of black history from a Central Valley community perspective. Monthly meetings are free and open to the public. 50 YEARS AGO: The Stanislaus County History Committee discussed the idea of forming a historical society. After the discussion period, the group suggested the county Board of Supervisors should be the one to approve of the historical society and then give them the ability to use the county library as the society’s central meeting point for business.
