We go to great lengths to take care of our pets, but sometimes our animals need friends. Usually, that looks like two dogs playing together in a way only a canine would understand. In this case, a Golden Retriever met a guinea pig and decided they were meant to be BFFs. "Making friends at Petco!" the caption tells us.

The clip features a beautiful Golden completely enraptured by the piggies in the store. You can tell by the face that this pup wants to bring him home and hang out.

Viewers piped up to encourage Mom to adopt the guinea pig as his new playmate. "Please tell me you got it for him!" @Valerie Flippen chimed in. @FreeTimG tried to get into the pooch's head: "That's a weird-looking puppy, Mom." He isn't sure quite what to make of this rodent. Meanwhile, @Mary Blessed nailed it with, "Please, can I have him, Mama? I'll give him my treats." That would be one pampered pet.

Why Dogs Are So Curious About Smaller Animals

Even the sweetest lapdog still has prey drive deep down inside. But that doesn't prevent the big beasties from befriending the little guys. We've all seen canines and felines hanging out, but this sometimes translates to other pets as well. When fostering these friendships, it's important to take a strong role as a pet parent to prevent an injury, even an accidental one.

Dogster explains it best: "Dogs can also form connections with other animals, such as rabbits or guinea pigs. However, allowing a dog and a small mammal to occupy the same space can be dangerous, and many dogs have a natural prey drive that compels them to see tiny creatures as food. If you keep small animals and a dog in the same house, supervise their interactions to ensure no irreversible mistakes are made."

It certainly looks like this buddy wants to adopt the guinea pig and have many adventures together.
