Here's something Bay Area yacht rock fans definitely won't want to miss
Truth be told, we’ve never been on a yacht.
But we still like to imagine that we’re sailing on a stylish 50-footer — wearing one of those way-hip captain’s hats and shades (no matter the time of day or night) — and cruising the Florida Keys as we listen to the cool sounds of yacht rock.
And we’ll have the chance to do just that — listen to the cool sounds, that is, not cruise the Florida Keys — when Yacht Rock Revue visits the lovely Mountain Winery in Saratoga on June 2.
Having fanned the yacht rock flame since 2007, this Atlanta-based outfit is absolutely terrific at conjuring up the soft-rock vibes and radio-friendly tunes that dominated so much of the commercial airwaves in the ’70s and ’80s.
Yacht Rock Revue’s repertoire includes numbers originally made famous by such champions of the genre as Steely Dan, Starland Vocal Band, Michael McDonald, Looking Glass, Hall & Oates, Boz Scaggs and America.
Yet, Yacht Rock Revue isn’t just a tribute/cover band. The group also records and performs its own original music, which fans can sample in advance by listening to Yacht Rock Revue’s “Hot Dads in Tight Jeans” album.
Showtime at the Mountain Winery is 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $39.50, mountainwinery.com.
