A weekly glance at the many programs for children and adults offered by the Stanislaus County Library system’s 13 branches. Some programs are ongoing, others are special events and all are free and open to the public:
KNITTING AND CROCHET CLASSES ▪ Ongoing
Knitting and crocheting help for beginners or those needing help with a special project. 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Waterford Library, 324 E St. 209-874-2191.
YOGA WITH ROSA ▪ Today
Bilingual instructor will introduce and lead a Yoga class. All skill levels and ages are welcome. Bring water and a yoga mat, some mats will be available. 11 a.m. Patterson Library, 46 N. Salado. 209-892-6473.
LEGO PLAY DAY ▪ Today
Children ages 4-18 may participate in building LEGO displays for the library. 1:30 p.m. Children under 4 are welcome, but must have direct adult supervision. Modesto Library, 1500 I St. 209-558-7810.
SUPERHERO MAGNET CRAFT ▪ Tuesday
Participants may create magnets with superhero faces and sayings. 1 p.m. Hughson Library, 2414 Third St., Suite A. 209-883-2293.
SUPERHERO ACADEMY ▪ Tuesday
Lesson 3 features a superhero story, the creation of superhero shields and the opportunity to test your superhero skills. Advanced registration required. 2:30 p.m. Keyes Library, 4420 Maud Ave. 209-664-8006.
WEE MOVE AND PLAY ▪ Tuesday
For toddler and preschool-age children who can enjoy an hour of music, movement and sensory play and unstructured socializing. 3:30 p.m. Oakdale Library, 151 S. First Ave. 209-847-4204.
BUTTON MAKER CRAFT ▪ Tuesday

BIRD FEEDER CRAFT ▪ Tuesday
In celebration of the summer reading theme, “Every Hero has a Story” a discussion on the lives of Rachel Carson, John Muir and other environmental heroes. Children will create a bird feeder craft to take home. 4 p.m. Turlock Library, 550 Minaret Ave. 209-664-8100.
FAMILY DINNER AND MOVIE NIGHT ▪ Tuesday
Children and their families can enjoy a family-friendly movie and picnic dinner at the Library. This month's movie is “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.” This program is a part of the Salida Library's Tuesdays Are Family Days series. Children can come in their pajamas. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on. The library will provide a beverage and popcorn. 6 p.m. Salida Library, 7835 Sisk Road. 209-543-7353.
ANIMAL CRAFTS ▪ Wednesday
Children can make a variety of animal-themed crafts including fox paper bag puppets, bear masks, as well as make various animals using craft foam and Popsicle sticks. 1 p.m. Keyes Library, 4420 Maud Ave. 209-664-8006.
LOCAL HERO DAY ▪ Wednesday
Celebrate our local heroes. The Patterson Fire Department, Police Department, and Ambulance will be in the Patterson Library parking lot with their vehicles to entertain and educate. 1 p.m. Patterson Library, 46 N. Salado. 209-892-6473.
GIANT GAME DAY ▪ Wednesday

FIREMAN CRAFT ▪ Wednesday

CRAFT-A-PALOOZA ▪ Wednesday

“TECH-CONNECT” PROGRAM ▪ Wednesday
“Tech Connect: Hoopla,” participants will learn about Hoopla, a quick and free way to get audiobooks, movies, music, television shows, and now graphic novels. Learn how to digital material instantaneously. Bring your library card (or ID), your device, and any usernames and passwords you may need. SUPERHERO SKILLS TRAINING ▪ Thursday
Develop the skills of a superhero, brain power, strength, completing missions, developing a special power and a secret identity, to earn an official superhero certificate. 3:30 p.m. Oakdale Library, 151 S. First Ave. 209-847-4204.
BOTTLE CAP NECKLACE CRAFT ▪ Thursday
Participants will be able to upcycle bottle caps into cool unique jewelry designs. 3 p.m. Waterford Library, 324 E. St. 209-874-2191.
SUPERHERO TRAINING ACADEMY ▪ Thursday
Receive an official Superhero Checklist and complete the five challenges on your list to earn a certificate. The challenges include making a superhero mask, cape and cuffs, reading to develop brain power, using your senses to develop X-Ray vision and more. 3:30-5 p.m. Ceres Library, 2250 Magnolia. 209-537-8938.
SUPERHERO PUPPETS ▪ Saturday

TIE-DYE AT THE LIBRARY ▪ July 29

STICKER BOOKS ▪ July 29
Learn how to make a sticker book to keep all your stickers organized. Stickers will be able to be removed and stuck back on the pages of the book. 3 p.m. Denair Library, 4801 Kersey Road. 209-634-1283.
