At the libraries: Activities for kids and adults abound

A weekly glance at programs for children and adults offered by the Stanislaus County Library system’s 13 branches. Some programs are ongoing, others are special events and all are free and open to the public:

PRESCHOOL STORY TIMES ▪  Ongoing

Held regularly at most branches; contact individual branches for dates, times and locations.

WIGGLE WORMS ▪  Ongoing

For babies, active toddlers. Held regularly at most branches; contact individual branches for dates, times and locations.

INTERNET & COMPUTER BASICS ▪  Ongoing

Basic introductions in separate classes. Advance registration required; contact branches for dates, times and locations.

PIRATE DAY ▪  May 30

Pirate adventures including crafts, activities, games, and a library treasure hunt. 4 p.m. Salida Library, 4835 Sisk Road. 209-543-7353.

FAMILY GAME DAY ▪  May 30

Classic board game play. 4 p.m. Turlock Library, 550 N. Minaret Ave. 209-543-7353.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME: SYMPHONY & STORIES ▪  May 30

Baseball stories and music by the Modesto Youth Symphony Orchestra. 6:15 p.m. Modesto Library, 1500 I St. 209-558-7800.

’80S THROWBACK DAY @ HUGHSON LIBRARY ▪  May 31

Make ribbon barrettes, friendship pins, and create retro-looking buttons. There will be music lyrics and movie lines trivia, as well as jelly bracelet design contests. Noon-6 p.m. Hughson Library, 2412 3rd St. 209-883-2293.

MODESTO LEGO PLAY ▪  May 31

Children will have the opportunity to build LEGO displays for the library. Children under 4 must have direct adult supervision. 3:30 p.m. Modesto Library, 1500 I St. 209-558-7800.

PUZZLE NIGHT AT THE MODESTO LIBRARY ▪  May 31

Jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, word searches, and more for all ages. Snacks will be provided. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Modesto Library, 1500 I St. 209-558-7800.

D IS FOR DINOSAUR ▪  June 1

Make a paper dinosaur following a dinosaur-themed Story Time. Noon. Hughson Library, 2412 3rd St. 209-883-2293.

TEEN CRAFT: GALAXY IN A JAR ▪  June 1

Teens will use a glitter and miniature glass jars to design each galaxy in a jar. 12:30 p.m. Denair Library, 4801 Kersey Road. 209-634-1283.

BUBBLE BONANZA ▪  June 1

DESIGN YOUR OWN PUZZLE ▪  June 1
