Country music will keep playing at The Fruit Yard Amphitheater in Modesto when Cole Swindel takes the stage. The Gallo Center brings back a popular tribute to 1950s music stars. And the annual Graffiti Summer carries on with a trio of events, including the seminal cruise. These and more celebrations are happening June 6-12.
Cole Swindell
Country music star Cole Swindell is up next at The Fruit Yard Amphitheater. The multiplatinum singer has “a reputation for delivering one of the most entertaining shows in country music,” according to a press release. Swindell’s hits include “Chillin’ It,” “You Should Be Here,” “Single Saturday Night” and “She Had Me At Heads Carolina.”

“One Night in Memphis”
“One Night in Memphis” is a tribute show to Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash, coming back to the Gallo Center. The show promises a night of rockabilly, country, gospel and 1950s rock ’n’ roll. The concert takes audiences back to Dec. 4, 1956, when the four stars gathered for an impromptu jam session at Sun Studios in Memphis.

Prince tribute
“When Doves Cry – The Prince Tribute Show” will bring an eight-piece group to the State Theatre to perform the music of late artist. Singing will be Gabriel Sanchez, who has been portraying Prince since 2002. The iconic “Purple Rain” album will be performed, along with Prince’s greatest hits and deep cuts.

Graffiti parade/cruise
The North Modesto Kiwanis Club will present the core event for the city’s annual monthlong Graffiti Summer celebration. A parade/cruise kicks off the club’s weekend of events and features 1,000 vehicles, 1980 and older, entered in the club’s festival and car show (June 13-14). The parade will head north on McHenry Avenue to Briggsmore Avenue with a U turn before crossing Briggsmore; back down McHenry to J Street, left on 10th and 11th streets, left on I Street, left on 17th Street and back to the original starting point.

“American Graffiti”
Before the cruise, see the film that started the community’s Graffiti Summer celebration. The State Theatre will screen “American Graffiti,” George Lucas’ 1973 film chronicling a night of teenage cruising in his hometown of Modesto. Original members of the Faros Car Club will be there, and the club will have vehicles parked outside the theater.

Legends of the Cruise
Also a part of the week’s Graffiti Summer activities is the Legends of the Cruise Park N’ Shine & Walk of Fame. More than 300 classic cars and hot rods will line the streets of downtown Modesto for the park and shine. The Legends of the Cruise Walk of Fame Ceremony will induct new members. Third Party will perform.

MoBand
MoBand’s second show in its 2026 season features “Star Power” at Graceada Park. The concert will feature music from “Hamilton,” Bruce Springsteen, “Stranger Things,” “Grandpa’s Favorite Disney” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” The band suggests audience members wear clothes celebrating a favorite character.

“Present Laughter”
Prospect Theater Project will stage Noel Coward’s “Present Laughter.” The story “unfolds over the course of two weeks in the life of Garry Essendine, a popular stage actor preparing to embark on a touring production in Africa,” according to the theater’s website. “Like in any great farce, (the show) has plenty of doors, multiple misunderstandings, and sidesplitting wordplay delivered as only the great Noel Coward can.”

Dairy fest
The annual Hilmar Dairy & Farm Festival returns. The event includes Little Milkman and Milkmaid contests, food and craft vendors. A car show will be held at Hilmar Middle School from 3-4:30 p.m. There will be fireworks at dusk.
