The final music group booked for this year’s Stanislaus County Fair has been announced.
Common Kings will round out the 10-day lineup, playing on Saturday, July 11, at the Modelo Variety Free Stage.
The fair is set to run July 10-19.
“The vibes are about to be unmatched ... as Common Kings brings their signature island sound, feel-good energy, and crowd-favorite hits ...,” a press release said.
Common Kings blends island reggae, pop, R&B and rock, according to the release. The band is made up of Samoan-born Hawaiian lead singer Sasualei “Jr. King” Maliga, Hawaii-raised Samoan guitarist Taumata “Mata” Grey, Fiji-born bassist Ivan “Uncle Lui” Kirimaua, and L.A.-born Tongan drummer Jerome “Big Rome” Taito.
The band’s album “Lost in Paradise” was nominated for a 2017 Grammy in the category of best reggae album.
“Fans can expect a full-on party atmosphere, singalong moments, and the kind of laid-back energy that turns into an unforgettable night at the Fair,” the release said.
Common Kings joins other artists previously announced: Clint Black (July 10); Mia Banda El Mexicano De German Roman (July 12); Diamond Rio (July 13); Twist on Taylor (July 14); 3OH!3 (July 15); Ashanti (July 16); Mayday Parade (July 17); Ying Yang Twins (July 18); and Banda Carnaval (July 19).
All concerts begin at 8:30 p.m. and are free with the price of fair admission. The Stanislaus County Fairground is at 900 N. Broadway, Turlock. For more on this year’s expo, see www.stancofair.com.
