Modesto-bred and prolific actor Timothy Olyphant doesn’t avoid being seen in public when he drops by for a hometown visit.

In fact, he posed for a photo a few days ago when he stopped by Tresetti’s. The photo was posted on the ModestoView Facebook and Instagram pages.

“When you support local, you never know who you will meet,” the post, dated Saturday, April 25, reads. “Great to see Timothy Olyphant enjoying Tresetti’s and a chat with our own Coach Colin McBride! Thanks Timothy for hanging out with our downtown friends here in your hometown.”

McBride is the freshman baseball coach at Enochs High School, according to MaxPreps.

It’s not the first time the Emmy-nominated actor has hit a Modesto restaurant while visiting. In a 2023 story in The Bee, Olyphant mentioned stopping by other restaurants on a previous visit: “Had a great meal at Papapavlo’s. Another one over at Ciao Bella’s,” he said in that email interview.

He also said that his mom lives in Modesto, as do as a couple of his best friends. He comes home but “according to my mother, not as often as I should,” he said in the 2023 story.

Commenters on the recent Facebook post were excited to see he was in town. One person wrote, “Omg we should invite him to be a special guest at the Graffiti Festival Thank you for all you do!!”

“One of my faves! Wish I would have been there,” another commenter said, “but love that he’s visiting his old stomping grounds!”

“We saw him at Dewz about a decade ago. We were having drinks at the bar and he was leaving after dinner. Cool that he continues to visit Modesto,” wrote another.

Known for his lead roles in “Justified” and “Deadwood,” Olyphant also stars in “Alien: Earth.” He’ll reprise and expand his role in the second season of “Stick” on Apple TV, expected to be released later this year. He has several other film and TV roles in the works, according to IMDB.com.

Olyphant was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2011 as best actor in a drama for his starring role in the FX series “Justified,” in 2019 as part of the team behind “Deadwood: The Movie” and in 2021 for guest actor in a drama series for “The Mandalorian.”
