The quest is about to begin.
There will be plenty of area events where little ones can hunt down those coveted, colored egg treasures.
Things start off early this year, with the city of Modesto celebration happening this Saturday, March 21.
If you want to drive a little farther, Lodi’s Micke Grove Regional Park hunt will have 25,000 eggs to grab.
Many of the community events feature other activities, including visits by the Easter Bunny, games, crafts and more.
Following is a look at just some of what’s coming up this year:
EGG-TASTIC – March 21: The Modesto Parks, Recreation & Neighborhoods Department offers an egg hunt along with activities such as bounce houses, balloon races, entertainment, limbo contest and more. The egg hunt, separated into age groups, starts at 4 p.m. Event 2-5 p.m. James Marshall Park, 440 Sutter Ave. 209-577-5344.
McHENRY MANSION EGGSTRAVAGANZA — March 21: Activities in the garden include a passport for children to collect Easter eggs, along with crafts, giveaways and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. 10 a.m.-noon. McHenry Mansion, 909 15th St., Modesto. 209-577-5235.
MODESTO RESERVOIR EGG HUNT – March 28: The Stanislaus County Parks and Recreation Department hosts egg hunts at the reservoir. Activities include age-specific hunts, community resources, games, activities, food trucks and more. Activities 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; hunts 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., based on age. Modesto Reservoir Regional Park, 18143 Reservoir Road, near Waterford. $15 per carload for county residents, $20 for nonresidents. www.stancountyparks.com/coming-soon-02.
TURLOCK COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT – March 28: Kiwanis of Greater Turlock presents this egg hunt with prizes, the Easter Bunny, music and more. Events begin at 9 a.m., with the egg hunt at 10. Turlock High School, behind the boys gym, 1600 E. Canal Drive. 209-262-8700.
RIVERBANK COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT – March 28: Riverbank will hold a celebration with four egg-hunting sessions for kids, based on age, beginning at 11 a.m. Also planned are vendors and activities. CERES EGGSELLENT EVENT – March 28: The Ceres Recreation Department hosts a family event with arts, crafts, pictures with the Easter Bunny, goody-bag giveaways and more. Food and snacks will be available for purchase. 1-3 p.m. Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth St. 209-538-5628.
MICKE GROVE REGIONAL PARK HUNT – March 28: There will be 25,000 eggs filling the park in Lodi with the hunt beginning at 11 a.m. The event also will feature activities including games, crafts, interactive booths, face painting, food trucks and photos with the Easter Bunny. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. 11793 N. MODESTO CERTIFIED FARMERS MARKET – April 4: Special Easter Market features crafts for kids and the Easter Bunny. Egg hunts will be held for ages 1-12. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; hunts begin at 10 a.m. Market 8 a.m.-1 p.m. 16th Street between H and I streets. modestocfm.com.
COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT – April 4: The Assyrian American Civic Club of Turlock will offer a free afternoon of egg hunting, candy and community fun. 2 p.m. 2618 N. Golden State Blvd., Turlock. www.instagram.com/p/DV43mtYkf47.
COLUMBIA’S VICTORIAN EASTER CELEBRATION – April 5: Dress up in Easter finery to be part of a Victorian-era parade at Columbia State Historic Park, which begins on Main Street at 1 p.m. Egg hunts will be by age group during the event, which runs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Find the golden egg to win a prize. Thaddeus E. Hare (aka the Easter Bunny) will walk around town handing out goodies to kids. There will be a raffle for filled Easter baskets at 3 p.m. in front of the Johnson’s Livery stable. 888-488-1850.
Public church hunts
EASTER EGGSPERIENCE – March 28: This community celebration features activities for all ages including a large egg hunt (must register to participate), live music, jump houses, games, raffles and food vendors. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with egg hunt registration beginning at 9:45 a.m. The House Modesto, 1601 Coffee Road. 209-529-7346.

EASTER KIDZ BLITZ – April 4: Neighborhood Church puts on this community hunt. There will be a bubble zone, bull ride ( an inflatable, kiddie version of a mechanical bull), face painting, an Easter Bunny photo booth and more. 10 a.m.-noon.
