Classic rock band to bring its many hits to Modesto stage. See who, when, where

“Bad to the Bone” and coming to the Gallo Center for the Arts, George Thorogood and The Destroyers will play classic rock hits. A tribute to the late artist Selena also will play at the Gallo Center, while a tribute to The Mamas & The Papas will perform at the State Theatre. These are just some of the entertainment options coming to the Modesto region March 7-13.

Classic rock pulls into the Gallo Center as George Thorogood & The Destroyers bring “The Baddest Show on Earth” tour to Modesto. Among Thorogood’s biggest hits are “Bad to the Bone,” “Move It on Over,” “Who Do You Love?” and “I Drink Alone.”

“Pixar in Concert”

The Modesto Symphony Orchestra brings its “Pixar in Concert” production to the Gallo Center. The MSO will perform the live music soundtracks to films such as “Finding Nemo,” “Coco,” “Monsters Inc.” and more while the films play on screen. Limited tickets were available.

The Selena Experience

A concert that pays tribute to the late artist — “Selena live, The Selena Experience” — will play at the Gallo Center. Hits by the “Queen of Tejano Music,” Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, will be performed. Expect songs “Como La Flor,” “Amor Prohibido,” “Si Una Vez,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and more.

Gallo Center Repertory

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” will be the latest production from the Gallo Center Repertory Company. The story is about a highly intelligent teenager who is “ill-equipped to interpret everyday life,” according to the Gallo Center’s website. He falls under suspicion for the killing of a neighbor’s dog and becomes determined to solve the mystery.

The Mamas & The Papas tribute

The Papas and Mamas brings the music of The Mamas & The Papas to the State Theatre. “The Mamas & The Papas made history with 17 Billboard charting hits and a timeless sound that defined a generation,” the theater’s website says. The Papas and Mamas brings the harmonies, look and music of the 1960s group in its shows. Hits such as “California Dreamin’,” “Monday, Monday,” “Creeque Alley” and more will be performed.

Carnegie Arts exhibit

Turlock’s Carnegie Arts Center’s spring exhibit presents “Valley Focus: Bill Harris – From Life” in the Ferrari Gallery. The exhibition includes photographs, paintings and prints by Modesto artist Bill Harris. “As both a photographer and a painter, Bill Harris has been a fixture in the region’s art scene for 40 years,” a press release says.

WHEN: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, through May 16

“Soundscape”

A piano program, “Soundscape in Black and White: The Future of Piano Artistry,” will be performed at The Graffiti Museum USA in Modesto. The presentation will feature performances by Sarah Chan and Yan Yan Chan. Advanced piano students of Janisse Foresti also will be featured. The “Mistlin Reunion Art Show” will be on exhibit during the concert. The event is part of a new series presented by Advocates for the Visual Arts.
