Experience the classic “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” as the Modesto Symphony Orchestra re-creates the film’s score at the Gallo Center for the Arts. There’s also plenty of comedy to catch and more entertainment in the Modesto region from May 24-30.

Modesto Symphony Orchestra

Ryan Murray will conduct the Modesto Symphony Orchestra as the full-length “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” plays on screen at the Gallo Center. MSO will perform the film’s John Williams score live as it screens. The 1981 adventure was a collaboration between Modesto native George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Limited tickets remained available.

Dusty Slay

Comedian Dusty Slay brings his “The Night Shift Tour” to the Gallo Center. “Long hair, tobacco, oversized glasses and a trucker hat, Dusty Slay is the self-effacing bourbon-voiced Southern comedian next door with a knack for observational, blue-collar humor and the nerve to say what everyone else is thinking,” the center’s website says. Limited tickets were available.

“Rescue” comedy

A benefit for homeless pets features Clay Foley in “Comedy to the Rescue” at the State Theatre. Foley’s benefit shows come after his years also working in animal welfare, the State’s website says. The national tour raises money for local pet charities; proceeds from this show will assist nonprofit Saving Lives Animal Rescue.

We Own The Laughs

We Own The Laughs: Modesto returns to the State Theatre with another round of stand-up comedy. The evening will feature performances by Melanie Iglesias, Alexis Prigo, Tyson Paul and headliner Chris Estrada. Host will be local Gabe Alexander. For age 18 and older.

Peddlers fair

The Arnold Peddlers Faire will be back in the Mother Lode community with plenty of items to shop. Attendees can expect to find around 65 booths featuring antiques, collectibles, art, crafts, food and more.

Celebrate apricots

The annual Patterson Apricot Fiesta returns to Stanislaus County with plenty of the fruit to enjoy. There will be a craft fair, food and beer booths, live entertainment, a parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, a kids zone and more. Also planned on Saturday are fireworks at dusk.
