Country band Alabama, whose honors over many decades include two Grammy Award wins and 13 nominations, will perform its numerous hits at the Fruit Yard Amphitheater.

The group will play at 6:30 p.m. July 3 at the Modesto venue. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16.

Alabama is known for its rock-style country music, according to the Country Music Hall of Fame website.

“Between 1980 and 1993, Alabama took more than thirty records to the top of the Billboard country chart and sold millions of albums, substantially broadening country music’s audience and making themselves one of American music’s most popular acts of all time,” the website says.

Among the group’s many hits are “My Home’s in Alabama,” “Tennessee River,” “Feels So Right,” “Mountain Music,” “Love in the First Degree,” “Take Me Down,” “Forty Hour Week (For a Livin’)” and “Can’t Keep a Good Man Down.”

Jeff Cook (guitar), Teddy Gentry (bass) and Randy Owen (guitar), started the group more than 50 years ago, according to the Alabama official website.

The three, along with former member Mark Herndon (drums), were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005, according to the website.

While Cook died in 2022, Gentry and Owen continue to tour with backup members.

Alabama joins Smokey Robinson (June 13), Jon Pardi (June 28), “Weird Al” Yankovic (Aug. 23, only limited tickets available) and Darius Rucker (Sept. 6) remaining so far on this year’s lineup.

Officially called The Fruit Yard Chicken Ranch Casino Resort Amphitheater, it’s at 7948 Yosemite Blvd. There is lawn seating and reserved seating to accommodate about 3,500 people.

Tickets will be available at www.thefruityardevents.com.
