Original members of iconic Motown band The Jackson 5 bring the group’s hits to the Gallo Center in Modesto. Opera Modesto offers the comedic “Falstaff,” and a Cinco de Mayo celebration is planned. The Jacksons
The Jacksons recently celebrated 50 years as one of the most successful groups in music history, starting out as the Jackson 5. It had four debut singles that reached No. 1 on the charts. The group’s show at the Gallo Center will include numerous hits including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” “I’ll Be There,” “Never Can Say Goodbye,” “Dancing Machine” and more. In this show, the late Tito Jackson’s son Taryll joins his uncles, original Jackson 5 members Marlon and Jackie.

“Falstaff”
Opera Modesto present the comedic “Falstaff” as it next production at the Gallo Center. The company’s general director, Roy Stevens, will star in the title role, which he’s previously performed on four continents. Verdi’s “Falstaff” is based primarily on Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” and tells of Sir John Falstaff, who has fallen on hard times and looks to get money by romancing two wealthy wives. Sung in Italian, with English supertitles.

Cinco de Mayo
The West Modesto Community Collaborative holds a Cinco de Mayo celebration with food, live entertainment and speakers at the King-Kennedy Memorial Center. Proceeds benefit the group’s farmworker outreach and services.

Beatles tribute
RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles will celebrate the music of the fab four at the Gallo Center. “With note-for-note precision, this mind-blowing performance transports you back to the iconic eras of Sgt. “Charlie Chaplin’s SMILE”
“Charlie Chaplin’s SMILE” with Philippe Quint is a multimedia recital performance coming to the Gallo Center. The Grammy Award-nominated classical violinist celebrates Charlie Chaplin’s musical legacy and explores the actor’s life. The show combines images and video from classic Chaplin films with live music by Quint and piano accompaniment.

Garage Fest
Put on by Visit Modesto, Garage Fest will feature more than 250 garage sales across the city, all at the same time. A live map will be published on the Visit Modesto website the morning of the event, with participating homes and what they will sell.
