Big-name comedians coming to Modesto theater. When, how to get tickets
The Gallo Center for the Arts’ remaining season has gained two household-name comedians.
Jeff Foxworthy will play at 5 p.m. June 1, his first-ever performance at the downtown Modesto venue, according to its website. Limited tickets, $77-$147, remain for his show.
Foxworthy has been part of the popular Blue Collar Comedy tours, films and broadcasts. He’s known for his jokes about rednecks, family interactions and human nature, the website says.
George Lopez will play two shows, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. June 28. Tickets are $47-$107.
Lopez’s career includes television, film and stand-up comedy. According to the center website, he “has broken ground for Latino comics by embracing his ethnicity, confronting racial stereotypes, and fighting for his community on and off the stage.”
The Gallo Center has two other shows added to its season, Banda Machos & Banda Maguey and Gerardo Ortiz.
Technobanda groups Banda Machos and Banda Maguey bring their “The Viva La Quebradita Tour” to the center April 18. Tickets are $67-$117.
According to the center’s website, “The two bands from Villa Corona in the state of Jalisco ... are among the most successful exponents of the ‘technobanda’ sound.”
Ortiz will play his corrido and regional Mexican music on May 4. Tickets for his show are $77-$167.
He “rose to overnight success in 2010 with the release of his major-label debut, ‘Ni Hoy Ni Mañana,’ which landed in the Top 5 of the Latin Albums chart and received a Grammy nomination for Best Norteño Album,” the website says.
