‘Saturday Night Live’ alum set to perform his comedy at Modesto venue. See who, when

Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Rob Schneider will take his stand-up comedy to the State Theater. Actor Eric McCormack of “Will & Grace” fame will perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts with Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway-inspired concert “A Blonde, Brunette, and Some Duets.” Also at the Gallo Center comes personality and flamenco guitarist Charo. These are just some of the entertainment options planned for the Modesto region. Jan. 25-31.

“Saturday Night Live” veteran Rob Schneider brings his “Rescue Husband” show to the State Theatre. The comedian, actor, screenwriter and director appeared on “SNL” with a cast that included Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade and the late Chris Farley. After leaving “SNL” in 1994, he had roles in TV and film, including starring in the NBC sitcom “Men Behaving Badly.”

Eric McCormack & Laura Bell Bundy

“A Blonde, Brunette, and Some Duets” stars actor Eric McCormack of television’s “Will & Grace” fame. He appears in concert at the Gallo Center with fellow Broadway veteran Laura Bell Bundy. Emmy winner McCormack and Tony-nominated Bell Bundy perform in a show that “spans Broadway hits, cinematic charm and chart-topping tunes,” according to the Gallo Center website.

Charo

“Charo In Concert” features the guitarist, singer, composer, actress and comedian at the Gallo Center. Charo has twice been voted best flamenco guitarist“ by Guitar Magazine. She is “recognizable by her trademark expression, ‘cuchi cuchi,’ which has endeared her to audiences around the world and made her name synonymous with music, fun and excitement,” the center’s website says.

Ronstadt Revival

A tribute to Linda Ronstadt, the Ronstadt Revival featuring Shannon Rae, comes to the State Theatre. Complete with a seven-piece band, the show presents Ronstadt’s music including her 1967 beginnings with The Stone Poneys. The show weaves in stories of Ronstadt’s life and career.

“Skylight”

Prospect Theater Project presents “Skylight,” by David Hare. Directed by Jack Souza, it’s an “intensely clear-sighted and compassionate play about former lovers who attempt to rekindle their passionate relationship, only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires,” the theater’s website says.

“Paperwork”

A new exhibition, “Paperwork,” is on display in the Lobby Gallery at the Carnegie Arts Center. It includes works created by 33 artists from 20 regional communities and beyond. CAC Director Lisa McDermott said in a press release that the “role paper has played in art over the centuries is as diverse as the medium itself. We wanted to see what creative ways artists could use or highlight paper in their work.” A free public reception for the artists is planned 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24.
