Once canceled, will massive Modesto holiday event be saved again? Here’s what to know

It may be fall, but it’s also time for the yuletide tradition of holiday craft fairs.

There are many planned in the greater Modesto region. And there’s good news for those who were fans of Mod Shop. The hugely popular downtown event was canceled by longtime organizers last year, but saved at the last minute by other groups.

The Downtown Modesto Partnership and Modesto Downtown Improvement District will hold a version again this year, called DoMo Shop.

Held on Small Business Saturday, DoMo Shop will include independent artisans, as well as brick and mortar businesses.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving is known as Small Business Saturday, a counterpoint to Black Friday, when large retailers get massive shopper attention.
