How Modesto’s Jeremy Renner plans to mark anniversary of devastating snowplow accident
Modesto native Jeremy Renner will mark the anniversary of his near-fatal snowplow accident with music.
The actor announced recently that he would release a “new musical diary” on Jan. 1, one year after the accident, according to People.com.
“New musical diary — story of life, death, recovery, all things learned along the way,” Renner posted on his Instagram account. “‘Wait’ lit Jan 1. I can’t wait to share more with you.”
“Wait” is the title of Renner’s new single, representatives for the Beyer High graduate confirmed to People, according to the story.
The Instagram post includes a picture that “appears to be the cover artwork featuring Renner with his arm around his daughter, Ava Berlin Renner, 10, as they sit on a dock overlooking a body of water,” the People story said.
“Wait” is set to stream on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon music starting Jan. 1, according to a New York Post story.
The Academy Award-nominated actor, who will turn 53 on Jan. 7, previously posted this year on Instagram that he’d put together music chronicling his recovery from the 2023 New Year’s Day snowplow accident that left him critically injured.
“A collection of music we wrote about different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year. ‘Love and Titanium’ has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for me to create. I hope I get the courage to share with you all,” the October post read.
According to a previous story in The Bee, Renner was with family on his property off Mount Rose Highway near Reno on the Nevada side of the Tahoe Basin. That morning, he went to clear his nephew’s vehicle from the snow after a storm hit, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said in a January 2023 news conference.
Renner had used his 14,300-plus-pound heavy-duty snow-removal plow to tow the vehicle free, Balaam said. Afterward, the snowplow began rolling. When Renner tried to get back in to stop it, he was pulled under one of its treads and crushed.
The actor was airlifted to a Reno hospital, where he remained in the intensive care unit for more than a week. Renner kept fans updated on his condition and recovery through social media, particularly his Instagram account.
Renner also is returning to acting. A third season of his show “Mayor of Kingstown,” which streams on Paramount +, has been announced.
