You can do some ax throwing at the Hops & Vines fundraiser in Modesto, which benefits the Community Hospice Foundation. There also will be ales, wines, food and more.

Get some laughs at a production at the Gallo Center and see “Misery” in the Mother Lode. They’re just some of the entertainment options planned Aug. 26-Sept. 1 in the region.

Hops & Vines

Community Hospice Foundation presents its Hops & Vines fundraiser in Modesto. The event will feature locally brewed ales and wines, along with food. There will be ax throwing, cornhole and more. Must be 21 or older to attend.

“Late Nite Catechism”

The comedy “Late Nite Catechism” comes to the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto. The play, interactive with the audience, finds the Sister teaching to a roomful of “students,” according to the Gallo Center website. Some get rewarded, others may find themselves on stage sitting in a corner.

Carnaval

Santana tribute band Carnaval returns to the State Theatre in Modesto. The band plays hits from Santana’s early years through the favorites of today. The group “faithfully re-creates the drive and the sound that has made Santana’s music a mainstay in rock music history for the past five decades,” according to the State’s website.

“Misery”

Sierra Repertory Theatre brings Stephen King’s “Misery” to its stage. Novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued from a car crash by fan Annie Wilkes and wakes up captive in her home. SRT is advising that the “production contains violence, mature language and themes of physical and psychological abuse and torture, physical harm, self-harm, and death,” according to a press release.
