1. (1) Pitman (4-0): The Pride scored the first 27 points against Deer Valley of Antioch, including a 50-yard scoop-and-score by Devan Bass. Next: at No. 4 Merced (at Golden Valley H.S.), Friday.

3. (1) Central Catholic (1-2): Idle. Next: at Weston Ranch, Friday.

4. (6) Merced (3-1): Quarterback Dhameer Warren passed for a career-high 210 yards and four touchdowns as Merced won its Governor’s Hat rivalry with Madera. Next: vs. Pitman, Friday.

5. (7) Turlock (2-2): Defense dominant against Modesto, with 15 plays for negative yards and three interceptions, including a pick-six by Mustafa Noel-Johnson. Next: vs. Buhach Colony, Friday.

8. (10) Gregori (3-1): The Jaguars won their second straight game, defeating McNair 35-14. Next: vs. Beyer.

9. (3) Modesto (3-1): The Panthers were battered by Turlock, losing starting quarterback Norvale Howard with a first-half ankle injury. Next: at Johansen, Friday.

2. (2) Calaveras (4-0): Calaveras performed a weapons check Friday for its MLL opener vs. Sonora. Two players rushed for more than 100 yards and quarterback Kyle Byrd threw for three TDs. Next: vs. Sonora, Friday.

3. (3) Hilmar (3-1): For the third straight year, Cody Rentfro and the Yellowjackets made life difficult for top-ranked Sonora. Next: at Livingston, Friday.

9. (nr) Summerville (3-1): The Bears leapfrog Hughson in the rankings after rallying to beat the Huskies with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Next: Bye.

10. (9) Hughson (3-1): Griffin Genzoli’s 1-yard touchdown gave the Huskies a 13-6 lead late in the third quarter; the final 12 minutes were a blur. Next: at Liberty Ranch-Galt, Friday.
