Michael Garcia: Trump’s words painful; standing with him stands for hate

I just received a letter from Sonia Denham. I would like to thank her and appreciate her beautiful family. She said she is disappointed about the comments made by Donald Trump, that they are upsetting to both she and her husband. Yet, she and her husband continue to support Trump – and that truly saddens me. After all of Trump’s demeaning and derogatory statements about Mexicans, Latinos, Blacks, the disabled, women, etc., etc., that should be enough for Congressman Denham to disavow his support for Trump.

I was born in Modesto and I am a disabled veteran and have heard comments like Trump’s all my life from people without decency and decorum. Will we stand for hate, or honor and decency?

I believe that is the question. I know most Americans are good decent people and we will remember what stand we took on Election Day.

Michael Garcia, Modesto
