Authorities identify woman shot to death inside Modesto garage

The woman shot to death inside a garage Friday night was identified as 26-year-old Dahvish Gilliam, Modesto Police said Monday.

Gilliam and a relative were visiting a friend at a home in the 1800 block of Floyd Avenue when she was shot while inside a closed garage. The friend’s children were at the house and there were other people in the garage with Gilliam but only she was shot.

Gilliam’s relative drove her to a Modesto hospital where she died.

Detectives were called to the hospital where they learned the shooting happened at the home on Floyd and that the unknown suspect shot at the garage multiple times.

This is the fourth homicide being investigated by Modesto police since Nov. 17.
