Pallet fire raged in south Modesto

Firefighters from several departments are battling a blaze at a pallet yard that has spread to other structures, authorities said.

The Ceres fire department answered the initial call, Modesto Fire Chief Sean Slamon said, noting it’s the fifth fire of the day in the area. The fire is on South Ninth Street near Hosmer Avenue.

The call came in about 9:45 p.m., Slamon said. “It’s very actively involved,” he said shortly before 11 p.m.

No injuries had been reported as of 11 p.m., Modesto Fire Battalion Chief Jesse Nicasio said.
