There’s more in store for Modesto this week than a sunny sky and high temperatures
As we march toward the first day of summer, June 21, spring keeps rearing its beautiful head. By this weekend, the National Weather Service predicts, highs in Modesto again will be in only the upper 70s.
Before then, however, comes more heat. Monday is predicted to be sunny with a high near 91 degrees. The average high temperature for June 5, according to Modesto Irrigation District weather records, is a bit lower – 85 degrees.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be more of the same, with highs near 93 and 89, respectively.
Thursday morning, though, will bring a 20 percent chance of showers after 11 a.m., according to the weather service. After that, the day should be partly sunny with a high near 83.
A slight chance of showers is expected Thursday night and into Friday morning before 11 a.m. Friday then should be mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
Saturday should be equally pleasant – sunny with a high near 79. Sunday will be a bit warmer, with a high near 81.
The historical average June rainfall for Modesto, according to MID, is 0.10 inches.
While June rain is unusual, there have been several rainy days during the month that kicks off summer. Among the highest rainfall dates, MID records show: 0.40 inches on June 4, 1894; 0.35 inches on June 6, 1953; and 0.31 inches on both Jun3 8, 1964, and June 28, 2011.
