Fire starts in a dryer, causes significant damage at Modesto mobile home park

A dryer caught fire Saturday afternoon in a mobile home on Coffee Road in north Modesto, causing significant damage to the structure.

Crews from the Modesto Fire and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire departments responded to the call just after 2 p.m. at Silverwood Mobile Home Park and found flames and smoke showing from the east side of the double-wide structure, according to Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief Darin Jesberg.

The fire started in a dryer at the home and the flames spread inside the laundry room. The occupants were able to get out of the home and call 911, Jesberg said.

He said crews quickly knocked down the fire, however there was significant smoke and heat damage inside the home.
