Modesto Nuts pitcher Ljay Newsome had a great April.

The Seattle Mariners’ 26th round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft led Minor League Baseball in innings pitched (36.2) and strikeouts (54) and his four wins led the California League. He also had a 1.47 earned run average.

One Tuesday, Newsome was named the Uncle Ray’s Player of the Month for the California League.

Newsome will receive an award from MiLB along with a bag of Uncle Ray’s Potato Chips.
