Riverbank rolls past Western Sierra to snap 15-game skid
Jalen Spikes threw for four touchdowns and totaled more than 400 yards to lead Riverbank High to a 35-7 victory over Western Sierra, snapping a 15-game losing streak that dates back to 2014.
“We’ve made some headway, but we’re not done,” said second-year coach Kit Jory, whose team is coming off an 0-10 season. “We’ll enjoy this tonight, and tomorrow we’ll go right back to work.”
Allen Brown rushed for 150 yards, scored three touchdowns and had 15 tackles on defense, while Carlos Villapudua caught two touchdown passes, picked off a pass and had seven tackles. Jose Barajas and Isaac Aguilera also picked off passes.
Eduardo Florez registered a sack and forced two fumbles.
Riverbank’s last victory came on Oct. 4, 2014 when it went on the road to beat Livermore Valley Charter Prep 51-0.
Up next for the Bruins is Bret Harte (Angels Camp), which opened the season with a bye.
