The high school and community college football season begin Friday night at stadiums throughout the region.

And with football season comes the need to talk about football – be it the games, players, coaches or calls. And no place is better to do just that than the Modesto Community Quarterback Club meetings at Coach’s Corner, 950 E. Oakdale Road.

The club will hold its kickoff meeting for the 2016 season at noon Monday. A buffet lunch will be served for $10.

The coaches of Modesto’s 11 football programs – Beyer, Davis, Downey, Enochs, Gregori, Johansen, Modesto, Central Catholic, Modesto Christian, Big Valley Christian and Modesto JC – will discuss their upcoming game and answer questions from the audience. Schools earn points for attendance at meetings and at the end of the season will get a share of the club’s proceeds based on the percentage of meetings attended. Each week, one team is honored as the Team of the Week, and that school gets to bring a handful of players to be introduced.

The meetings are open to the public and are held each Monday, except for the Labor Day meeting, which will be pushed back to Sept. 6 because of the holiday.
