Comprised of schools from the Modesto Metro Conference, Valley Oak League, Central California Conference and Western Athletic Conference.

1. (1) Central Catholic (11-0): The Raiders weren’t at their championship best, but it mattered little against El Camino. Next: vs. Christian Brothers

2. (2) Oakdale (10-1): The Mustangs nearly doubled-up El Dorado in their Division III opener, 63-33. Next: Benicia-Vista del Lago winner (Saturday)

3. (3) Patterson (11-0): Think the Tigers were excited to start the Division III playoffs? Patterson put a season-high 73 points on Yuba City. Next: vs. Placer

4. (4) Merced (8-3): So much for the run-heavy approach. So much for Jake Foss’ shoulder injury. The Bears quarterback threw for five TDs Next: at Elk Grove

5. (7) Manteca (9-2): The Buffaloes have a new signal-caller. His name: Gino Campiotti, a sophomore with a big arm and personality. Next: at Inderkum

6. (5) Turlock (7-3): The Bulldogs were no match for blue-chip recruit Lamar Jackson, a cornerback with 24 Division I offers, and Franklin.

7. (6) Downey (8-3): Three first-half turnovers and a slow start to the second half doomed the Knights in loss to Granite Bay.

8. (nr) Los Banos (7-4): In not-so-shocking news, the Tigers delivered the postseason’s first upset by holding off Division IV No. 1 Lathrop. Next: at Liberty Ranch

9. (nr) Sierra (6-5): The T’wolves climb back into the rankings with a win over Union Mine. Marco Castillo provides the separation with a field goal. Next: at Calaveras

10. (10) Beyer (6-4): The Patriots’ game with Grant was postponed after a shooting Friday afternoon claimed the life of a Pacer player.

Small schools

Comprised of schools from the Trans-Valley League, Mother Lode League, Southern League and Central California Athletic Alliance.

1. (1) Sonora (10-1): Playing without junior captain Bradley Canepa, the top-seeded Wildcats got a running-clock victory. Next: vs. Orestimba

2. (2) Hilmar (8-3): Junior quarterback Daniel Texeira averaged nearly 30 yards per completion and accounted for three TDs in a rout. Next: vs. Ripon Christian

3. (3) Orestimba (11-0): The Warriors won their first-ever playoff game in dramatic fashion, beating Hughson in the final seconds. Next: at Sonora

4. (6) Gustine (10-1): Led by hard-charging Brandon LaBry, the Redskins erupted for 70 points and won a shootout with Rio Vista. Next: at Bradshaw Christian

5. (4) Ripon (6-5): Tough draw for the TVL champions; Indians ousted by Bear River, the defending Division V winner.

6. (5) Hughson (8-3): Justin Futch did his best to keep Hughson’s season alive, scoring back-to-back touchdowns, but Hughson left Orestimba too much time.

7. (7) Stone Ridge Christian (9-1): First-round bye. Next: vs. Millennium

8. (8) Ripon Christian (9-2): The Knights can check another box. First playoff win at the new stadium? In a big, big way over Golden Sierra. Next: at Hilmar

9. (10) Calaveras (9-3): Junior Noah Preuss stole the spotlight in the Redskins’ playoff opener, rushing for 200 yards and two TDs. Next: vs. Sierra

10. (9) Escalon (5-5): Season over.
