The Sac-Joaquin Section Division II fooball playoff game between Beyer and Grant that was postponed Friday night has been rescheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. at Grant High School in Sacramento.

The first-round game was postponed after a shooting near the North Sacramento school took the life of Grant senior cornerback Jaulo Clavo. Another player, fullback Malik Johnson, was shot in the arm and his wound was characterized as non-life-threatening.

The shooting occurred about three hours before the two teams were to play at Grant. Beyer already was on the way to the game, but turned around north of Stockton after receiving news of the postponement.

Grant (9-1) is the top seed in Division II. Beyer (6-4) is the No. 16 seed. The winner will play next Friday. The loser is out.

Beyer coach Doug Severe said Friday night he was stunned by the news and was at a loss for what the Grant team and their families were going through. The team met Saturday at the school to grieve the loss of Clavo.
