Downey 61, McNair 50 at Stockton – Junior running back Malcome Green carried 20 times for 115 yards and caught four passes for 103 yards and three scores to help the Knights win a slugfest over McNair, which scored 74 points in its season opener last week against Calaveras. Alex Velasquez and Poaka Kekua had 15 tackles apiece, again showing that nose guard Joe Franco was a force on the line, tying up would-be blockers and allowing his linebackers to roam free. Downey overcame four touchdowns by wide receiver Derrion Grimm, who has made a verbal commitment to attend Boise State next year.

Modesto 21, Stagg 20 at Stockton – Alejandro Salcedo made a key sack as the Delta Kings were in position to score the go-ahead touchdown with just seconds left. The Delta Kings countered and were poised to go up by two scores when Dylon Jackson intercepted a pass in the end zone, giving the Panthers the ball at the 20. Modesto then marched 80 yards, on runs mostly by Brady, and tied the score 20-20 on a short run by quarterback Max McCabe. Serafin Alberto converted the winning point-after kick with about a minute left. Stagg had a final chance but Salcedo pushed them out of field-goal range with his sack.

Davis 21, Franklin 18 at Modesto – The Spartans led 21-3 and had an opportunity to bury the Yellowjackets, but three drives stalled inside the 25.
