Hughson defense fires a second straight shutout

Two games, two shutouts.

Not a bad start of the Hughson High football team.

On the heels of a 34-0 season-opening victory over Johansen, the Huskies did 10 better on Friday, defeating Waterford 44-0.

Justice Futch had two first-half touchdown runs and quarterback Walter Fountain and wide receiver Josh Duran hooked up for two more before intermission as Hughson took a 37-0 lead into halftime.

Futch scored from short distance – runs of 1 and 3 yards.

Duran caught a 19-yard scoring strike in the first quarter and a 55-yard TD reception in the second quarter.

Tim Turley had a 10-yard TD run and Chase Stinhilver closed out the scoring with a 3-yard TD run in the third period.

Next up for the Huskies is an 0-2 Ceres squad whose two defeats have come against Modesto Metro Conference teams, including a 35-20 setback to Gregori on Friday night.
