Hilmar’s Texeira guides Yellowjackets past Livingston
Starting his first varsity football game at quarterback, Hilmar’s Daniel Texeira felt right at home on Friday night.
Texeira threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Yellowjackets to a 38-12 victory over Livingston.
With the game tied at 6 with about three minutes left in the second quarter, Texeira went over the top and hit Alex Chavez on a 38-yard touchdown scoring play to give Hilmar a 12-6 lead at intermission.
“It was a huge lift going into the half,” Hilmar assistant coach Adam Komos said.
Texeira then led the Yellowjackets on a long scoring drive to open the third quarter, capped by Cody Renfro’s 2-yard scoring run.
From there, the rout was on.
Texeira ran for 136 yards on 21 carries and threw for 103 yards. Josh Jennings had 11 carries for 112 yards and Renfro had two touchdown runs, including a 61-yarder in the fourth quarter.
Renfro also had two sacks and Joey Perreira had three sacks in the first quarter to set the tone.
