See which Stanislaus District football player fans voted The Bee’s best of Week 4

Downey got back to .500 in Week 4, with a dominant 40-28 win over Amador Valley. After both teams finished the first quarter tied at 8-8, Downey scored 25 points and allowed just six across the second and third quarters to open up the game.

In a win over Amador Valley, first-year starting quarterback Julian Masaniai had likely his best all-around game as a varsity football player. He completed 26 of 37 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. He even caught a pass for 11 yards, resulting in 326 total yards, the second-highest output of his career. He also posted career highs in completions, rushing yards and rushing attempts and finished his first game this season without throwing an interception.

The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Week 4 Football Fan Vote Player of the Week.

Masaniai finished first, collecting 59% of the more than 13,400 votes in the weekly poll. He polled ahead of Oakdale two-way player Wes Burford and Patterson’s Moises Ramirez, who came in second and third, respectively.
