In Week 1, Beyer won its first season opener since 2013. If that isn’t impressive already, what makes the victory sweeter is the Patriots did it on the road.

In the 39-28 win over Big Valley Christian, Beyer scored more than 10 points in every quarter but the third and held the Lions scoreless in two of the four frames. Beyer never trailed. The Patriots had five rushing touchdowns in the game, one by John Mustapha and four from Adrian Revera, who was playing in his first varsity game.

In addition to his four scores, Revera rushed for 277 yards on 29 carries, leading his team to victory. The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Week 1 Football Player of the Week.

Revera finished first, collecting 68% of the votes in the weekly poll. He finished ahead of Escalon’s Dylan Ball and Ripon’s Andrew Shaw, who came in second and third, respectively.
